Chelsea are yet to make the signings in January that many were hoping they would in order to try and get their top four hopes back firmly on track.
Despite a win against Wolves on Monday night, it had been five games in the Premier League without a win for the Blues, and they had even temporarily dropped out of the Champions League places.
The only addition to the squad so far has been the recall of Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace. That decision proved to be spot on after Chalobah’s player of the match display against Wolves.

Mathys Tel could change his mind about leaving Bayern Munich amidst Chelsea links
An attacking signing has been strongly reported to be on the club’s radar this month, with them feeling as if they need a new option to provide goals alongside Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson.
One player they were linked with signing earlier this month is Mathys Tel, who is currently out of favour at Bayern Munich.
In his limited time he has featured for them, the Frenchman has impressed greatly. Former manager Julian Nagelsmann described Tel as ‘very quick’.
Chelsea have enquired about the availability of Tel, however up until now the message had been that the forward was keen on making it with the Bundesliga side.
However, journalist Florian Plettenberg has told Sky Sports Germany that because of no involvement in the games since the enquiry, the youngster could still rethink his decision before the end of the month.

Christopher Nkunku wants move to Bayern Munich
Any move for Tel to come to Chelsea is likely to come in somewhat of a swap deal for Christopher Nkunku, who is unhappy with his minutes at Stamford Bridge.
Nkunku reportedly agreed personal terms with Bayern earlier this month, although since then he has played and scored for Chelsea in the FA Cup.
Enzo Maresca has not had faith in playing the France international up front at Stamford Bridge, even amongst the drop in form of Jackson in recent weeks.
