Chelsea’s search for a new central defender is becoming more complicated by the day.
After injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, Chelsea have entered the market for a centre-back.
Chelsea like Marc Guehi, but Crystal Palace look very reluctant to sell the man who has captained their side this season.
The Blues have been linked with other centre-halves such as Manchester City’s Ruben Dias, but that appears to be a non-starter.

Man City will not sell Ruben Dias to Chelsea
Back in October, it was claimed that Chelsea had Dias on their watchlist. Turning 28 this year and possessing a wealth of Premier League experience, he is the perfect profile for this young Chelsea squad and an even more proven option than Guehi.
Unfortunately for Enzo Maresca, though, it looks like City have no plans to sell the Portuguese this month.
According to GiveMeSport, the Premier League champions are not prepared to listen to any offers for Dias this month.
If Chelsea did view the Portugal international as a genuine option, then that is one name that they are now going to have to scratch off their list.

Pep Guardiola thinks Ruben Dias is ‘undroppable’
In the past, City boss Pep Guardiola has described Dias as “undroppable”, praising his influence on the pitch.
“He’s not just a player who plays good, he’s a player who makes the other guys play good too,” Guardiola was quoted as saying by The Independent.
“It’s 90 minutes talking, 90 minutes communicating, 90 minutes saying what they have to do in every single action. When that happens, it’s difficult for me and undroppable.”
All in all, Dias is the kind of player Chelsea need. Again, Maresca’s squad is young and lacking experience. It is probably one reason why they have struggled to see out games of late.
The Blues have conceded a lot of late goals, including in their 1-1 draw with Palace earlier this month. Someone with Dias’ experience and leadership skills could help to steady the ship late on in games.
At Palace, Guehi has developed into a leader, hence why he is captaining Oliver Glasner’s side at the moment. But just like City with Dias, they will not want to let Guehi go either.
