Chelsea will be well aware of the positions they need to strengthen when the current season ends and the transfer window opens again.
The Blues could still finish in the top five in this campaign, with Champions League football noted as Enzo Maresca’s target for his first campaign at Stamford Bridge.
Even if they don’t beat Nottingham Forest in the final game of the season, it is believed Maresca is safe in his job and will be given the keys to lead the project into the future.
Chelsea don’t want to mess about this summer either. The Blues want signings before the Club World Cup, which they will be competing in next month.
Supporters have made it no secret that they are desperate to see a striker come in to Stamford Bridge to bring competition to Nicolas Jackson next season.
Chelsea prepared to back Enzo Maresca with four big signings
This is just one of the positions they want to strengthen though, with some targets remaining from the January transfer window.
The Chelsea Chronicle understands as well as a striker, the Blues are looking at a goalkeeper, a left-sided defender and a right-footed winger this summer.
The defender is likely to be a hybrid of a centre-back and left-back, with there currently no alternative in the first team squad to Marc Cucurella.
A left-winger was firmly on their radar during January, with Maresca reportedly wanting Alejandro Garnacho in the final days of the window.
Chelsea’s summer transfer targets
The Blues have done their homework on a number of strikers ahead of this summer, with Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres amongst their targets.
Chelsea have been tipped to sign Benjamin Sesko too, with his profile fitting the club’s project well.
Jamie Gittens and Rafael Leao remain targets for a winger, while insider Graeme Bailey has said to keep an eye on Jorrel Hato when it comes to defensive targets.
As far as goalkeepers go, it is believed Chelsea are going to conduct a full review of their current options before making a decision on if they need a new signing this summer.
