Where Chelsea finish in the Premier League table this season could impact their transfer business.

Enzo Maresca‘s men are currently fourth in the standings, meaning that they are on course to qualify for the Champions League.

Chelsea need the television revenue that comes from participating in the tournament, but that is not the only reason why the club will want to finish in the top five.

Champions League football could be the difference between them signing and missing out on targets. Chelsea are currently being linked with Jorrel Hato and others ahead of the summer transfer window.

Crystal Palace’s FA Cup hero Eberechi Eze is another player who is thought to be attracting interest from Chelsea.

Last week, it was claimed that Eze is a target for Chelsea, who are looking to strengthen their attack this summer.

According to GiveMeSport, the Blues are indeed interested in the attacking midfielder. However, the outlet claims that it is not impossible that Eze remains at Selhurst Park and that it may have to take a significant offer from a Champions League club to convince him to leave.

It means Chelsea may very well have to finish in the top five if they want to sign Eze. The Blues have seen first-hand what Eze can do, with the 26-year-old scoring an excellent goal against them earlier this season.

It helped Palace to draw 1-1 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and earn a point from the London derby.

What Oliver Glasner has said about Eberechi Eze

When cutting inside on his right foot, Palace manager Oliver Glasner thinks Eze is an “amazing finisher”.

Speaking about the England international back in March, the 50-year-old said (via The Independent): “He always has the confidence, we know he’s an amazing finisher to cut inside on his right foot with an amazing finish.”

Eze has scored 13 goals in 41 appearances this season and netted the winner in Saturday’s FA Cup final.

Whether he leaves Palace or not this summer, Eze will go down as a club legend after inspiring the Eagles to Wembley glory.
