Chelsea co-sporting director Laurence Stewart looks to be the man driving the club’s interest in one attacker right now.
Chelsea could reinforce their attack before the winter transfer window closes next week amid links with the likes of Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.
Chelsea have been told how much Delap will cost, though they may not be able to sign him until the summer.
As for Tel, bringing in the 19-year-old now also looks like a very tricky task for Chelsea.

Laurence Stewart an admirer of Mathys Tel
Chelsea and several other clubs are keen on Tel, but the Blues have some convincing to do if they want to sign him before next week’s deadline.
According to Tz, Chelsea remain interested in Tel, with Stewart a “big fan” of the French youngster.
However, the same outlet claims that Tel still does not want to join Enzo Maresca‘s side despite his lack of action of late.
The France U21 international has not played in any of Bayern’s last three games, which is why Chelsea may feel that they still have a chance of landing him this month. Stewart played a big role in Tel’s compatriot Axel Disasi joining Chelsea in 2023.

Thomas Tuchel impressed with Mathys Tel’s finishing
Tel is actually yet to score a goal this season, but former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel coached him during his time at Bayern, and the German had some good things to say about his finishing.
“He’s only 18 and is making the most of it at the moment,” Tuchel was quoted as saying by the Bundesliga’s official website. “He’s always positive, always has a smile on his face and has great finishing in training and in matches.”
Despite clearly being a fan, Tuchel still drew criticism for his use of Tel, with the 51-year-old often leaving him on the bench.
A good finisher is what Chelsea need right now, as Nicolas Jackson continues to struggle in front of goal. The Senegal international has really dropped off in recent weeks, netting just once in his last nine Premier League outings.
The Blues need more firepower if they want to finish in the Champions League places. Tel, though, does not look like he is going to be the man to offer that unless he has a drastic change of heart in the coming days.
