Speculation about Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho joining Chelsea increased on Monday after the Blues’ 3-1 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

During the game, Alejandro Garnacho’s agents Carlos Cambeiro and Quique de Lucas were both spotted at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are seen as serious contenders for Garnacho’s signature as the club try to strengthen their attack.

However, it does not look like they were the ones who told the 20-year-old’s representatives to make the trip to west London on Monday.

Chelsea did not invite Alejandro Garnacho’s agents to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea may be talking to Cambeiro and De Lucas about signing Garnacho, but it does not appear that the duo were invited to the Wolves win by Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali or anyone else at the club, but rather decided to go on their own initiative.

Speaking about their appearance at the Bridge, journalist Matt Law said on the London Is Blue podcast: “They [Chelsea] certainly made a check on Garnacho. Garnacho’s agents were at Stamford Bridge last night. I’m told they weren’t invited by the club.

“Agents apply for tickets all the time, the club gives them tickets, it might be some antics. But I don’t think it was a case of them being invited by the ownership or the club. It could be some January game playing.”

It is also worth noting that De Lucas is a former Chelsea player, spending the 2002/03 season at the club.

Napoli remain very keen on signing Garnacho this month, so Chelsea will have to act soon if they want to land the Argentine.

Why Chelsea are interested in signing Alejandro Garnacho

While Cambeiro and De Lucas may not have been guests of Chelsea on Monday, the Blues are still interested in their client.

That interest stems from the Blues preparing for the worst-case scenario with Mykhailo Mudryk, according to The Athletic.

The Ukrainian faces a lengthy ban, which would leave Chelsea with Jadon Sancho as their only serious left-wing option.

Pedro Neto can play there, while Tyrique George is now part of Enzo Maresca‘s first-team squad. But with the former being better on the right-hand side where he can cut in from and the latter still being a teenager, they may not provide adequate competition for Sancho.

On the other hand, Chelsea clearly think Garnacho can after registering an interest in the Argentina international.
