Even though Jadon Sancho massively struggled for form in the last few years with Manchester United, he’s started to rediscover some confidence in Chelsea colours this season.
It came as a surprise to many people when Jadon Sancho, 24, joined the Blues on a season-long loan last summer. Incidentally, Chelsea have an obligation to buy Sancho for £25m.
The English winger’s quickly become an important first-team star during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge. In 16 Blues appearances across all competitions, he’s scored two goals and created six assists.
There’s plenty of competition for places in the Chelsea squad right now, especially in forward areas, but Sancho has started five of the last six Premier League games.

Enzo Maresca surprised by Jadon Sancho
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has delivered a glowing verdict on Sancho’s impact at the club. Interestingly, he shared that the attacker’s consistency levels have really surprised him in a good way.
“He is doing very well for me,” Maresca commented on Sancho via The Evening Standard.
“I am quite surprised with Jadon. I knew Jadon already so knew what to expect from him but in terms of being consistent.
“He is doing very well apart from a short spell of the season where he had some problems [Sancho missed several games through illness in November]. Apart from that he has been very good.
“I expected him to do well but for all players to do well for a long period is not easy. He has done well for a long period.”
Sancho showed in the past during his Borussia Dortmund spell that he can be a top-class wide man, so everyone at Chelsea should hope he’s bringing back that kind of form.
Sancho was convinced to join Chelsea by a FaceTime call with Maresca, where he laid out his plans for the season with great energy. At the halfway stage in the campaign, there’s plenty to be happy about.

What Rio Ferdinand predicted for Jadon Sancho in pre-season
There were definitely plenty of eyebrows raised when Sancho left Man United to join Chelsea, where many doubted if he would get regular football.
Unlike many others, Rio Ferdinand predicted Sancho to Chelsea could work for everyone. Ferdinand said back in August: “Things haven’t worked out for Raheem Sterling at Chelsea. If Sancho goes the other way, I think it works for both. I think they need a new chapter written in their careers, and I think it would work for both players.”
It might be a little too premature to talk about a recall to the England national team for Sancho, but he’s well on his way if he can keep up this rhythm. It’s quite remarkable that a player with his ability hasn’t played for his country since 2021.
