Chelsea’s midfielder is subject to plenty of transfer interest this month, but clubs will need to get a move on if they want to sign him before the January window closes.
We’ve already seen a few changes to the Chelsea squad during the mid-season window. For example, Aaron Anselmino and Trevoh Chalobah returned to Stamford Bridge from their respective loan spells.
In terms of the Blues midfield, it’s an area of the pitch where they’re blessed with many top-quality options. It means that some fringe midfielders are linked with potential exits.
Unfortunately, Chelsea midfielders Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez are an injury doubt ahead of Monday’s Premier League fixture at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Lazio set to make fresh bid for Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed via X this weekend that Lazio are set to make an improved transfer offer as they try to sign Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei.
Apparently, Italian club Lazio will launch a fresh bid for the 22-year-old midfielder. Meanwhile, Serie A rivals Torino were unsuccessful with their proposal for the same Blues player.
Chelsea will demand a “heavy sell on clause” in any Casadei deal this month. If the Italian youngster leaves Stamford Bridge, it’ll be on a permanent basis rather than a loan move.
Lazio, who sit top of the Europa League group phase right now, will try again to bring the Chelsea youngster to Rome.
Lazio have been in negotiations with Casadei’s agents, but there’s competition from Napoli and Torino for his siganture.
Enzo Maresca said it’s best if Cesare Casadei leaves Chelsea
The writing does appear to be on the wall for Casadei at Chelsea, but will any suitor be able to negotiate a transfer before the window’s deadline on 3 February?
Blues head coach Enzo Maresca previously admitted that the box-to-box central midfielder could leave.
Speaking earlier in January, Maresca admitted it’s best if Casadei exits Chelsea. The manager said: “For him, probably in this moment, the idea is not to allow him to play some minutes in case there is any opportunity for him to go and play. At this moment, this is the best thing for him.”
Even though Casadei does posses plenty of impressive physical and technical attributes, he’s only made six Chelsea appearances across all competitions this season due to the tough competition for places. We agree that he needs to go and play regular first-team football elsewhere.
