Frank Leboeuf was impressed with quite a few Chelsea players after their victory against Liverpool on Sunday.
Enzo Maresca‘s men were able to beat Arne Slot’s side 3-1, taking the lead after just three minutes through Enzo Fernandez.
A Jarell Quansah own goal and Cole Palmer penalty were how Chelsea scored their other goals.
Palmer put in a good show against Liverpool, but the attacking midfielder was not the only one who caught the eye on the afternoon.
Frank Leboeuf on Moises Caicedo’s ‘very good job’ against Liverpool
With Romeo Lavia fit again, the 21-year-old was able to start in midfield alongside goalscorer Fernandez on Sunday.
It saw Moises Caicedo play at right-back, and Leboeuf felt that the Ecuadorian did a “very good job” there despite it being an unfamiliar position to him.
Speaking about Caicedo and Lavia’s performances on ESPN FC, the former Chelsea defender said: “I have to say that some players, Lavia and Caicedo, in a very strange position, did a very good job.
“I’m really fond of Lavia. I mean, I hope that guy won’t have other injuries because he can serve the club very well. I think he’s a great player.”
Palmer also had some praise for the ex-Brighton & Hove Albion star after the game. In his post-match interview, Palmer discussed Caicedo, claiming that it was a “dream” to play alongside him.
Both Palmer and Caicedo have become two of Chelsea’s most important players since arriving at the club in 2023. In fact, they are probably the two standout individuals in Enzo Maresca‘s squad when looking at some of their performances this season.
While Palmer brings goals to the table, Caicedo has been a tackling machine in the middle of the park. The Ecuador international has not missed a single Premier League game in the current campaign.
Moises Caicedo’s numbers vs Liverpool
Given that he was out of position, Caicedo certainly did not put in his worst performance in a blue shirt. Some of his statistics were really good, while it was the 23-year-old who won Chelsea’s penalty.

It will be interesting to see what Maresca does going forward if Lavia remains fit, but one thing is certain: Caicedo has to play and in midfield.
In the Premier League this season, there has arguably not been a better midfielder than the Chelsea man.
