It is fair to say that Gary Neville was not too happy with Cole Palmer following Chelsea’s 3-1 loss against Manchester City on Saturday.
Cole Palmer started the game but was unable to make the same impact that he normally does.
The attacking midfielder finished the match with just one shot on target and did not attempt a single cross.
Neville was disappointed with his performance, but that was not the only thing that left the Manchester United legend unhappy. Neville has been quick to praise Palmer in the past, but he did not hold back on Saturday with his criticism of the player.

Gary Neville slams Cole Palmer after Pep Guardiola conversation
After the full-time whistle, Palmer was seen having a really good conversation on the pitch with his former manager Pep Guardiola.
However, with Chelsea having just lost the game, Neville believes that is not something Chelsea supporters would have wanted to see as he criticised the 22-year-old for not going inside and talking to his old boss there.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the retired defender said: “He’s an amazing player, absolutely brilliant, but you know something, those Chelsea fans that travelled today, the 3,000 or 4,000 in that far corner wanted better than that, they don’t really want to see you conversing with your opposition manager and smiling at the end of the game.
“I’m not being old school here, but there’s something about that. I thought Pep Guardiola’s playing you here, I know he’s had him, but he didn’t play him here and he sold him.
“Having a conversation inside I’m not against that, obviously he’s played for the manager. But I just felt at the end there’s something about it I didn’t feel was right from a Cole Palmer perspective.”
Before the match, Alan Shearer raved about Palmer, saying that the Englishman has been Chelsea’s most impressive player this season.

Gary Neville critical of Cole Palmer’s second-half performance
As mentioned earlier, Neville was also not satisfied with Palmer’s actual football on the day, especially in the second half.
On the England international, he said: “Cole, you’re being played, you’re being played here, you didn’t do enough out on that pitch in the second half.”
As a whole, Chelsea played quite poorly at the Etihad. Levi Colwill, for example, really struggled.
Palmer and all of his teammates need to step up, then. If they do not, then Chelsea are going to miss out on Champions League qualification once again.
They have already dropped out of the top four following their loss to City, who have really strengthened their team this month.
Guardiola has brought in Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis, additions who could now help City to finish above Chelsea in the Premier League table.
