Chelsea are just one game away from qualifying for the Champions League for next season and returning to where they believe they belong at the top of the European game.
Enzo Maresca will need to turn around their recent away form quickly if they are to do so, with them making the trip to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest.
The boss will be delighted to be welcoming Christopher Nkunku and Marc Guiu back from injury just in time as he looks to solve their striker woes following Nicolas Jackson’s red card.
He will need some of his biggest players to step up to the plate though. It would be the perfect time for Cole Palmer to break his unwanted streak of not finding the net in open play.
History is on Chelsea’s side vs Nottingham Forest
Chelsea can fall back on some positive history against their opponents, with them coming from behind to defeat them late last season thanks to a late Jackson winner.
According to BBC Sport, the Blues haven’t actually lost away from home against Forest in nearly 30 years, with their last defeat coming in 1997.
The piece goes on to say that they have only lost once in their last 12 games against this opposition, however they will need a win to keep things in their own hands when it comes to Champions League qualification.
Being able to offer Champions League football to any transfer targets will no doubt be a huge selling point for Chelsea in the upcoming summer window.
One of the Blues’ main targets is Liam Delap, however they face competition from a number of top Premier League sides for his signature.
With it being reported that Delap wants to play Champions League football at his new club, Chelsea may be facing an uphill battle to bring him in should they not beat Forest.
A new number nine is the priority, however with the teams who are also interested in their targets, top level European football at Stamford Bridge is going to be essential.
