Chelsea and Juventus are currently in talks regarding the potential transfer of Christopher Nkunku.
It felt like a superb signing when Chelsea purchased Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig two years ago because he was one of the stars in the German Bundesliga. Unfortunately, the 27-year-old attacker hasn’t been able to quite replicate that same level of success in English football.
In nearly two seasons with the Blues, Nkunku has 17 goals and five assists in 56 appearances across all competitions.
Christopher Nkunku is available against Nottingham Forest for the final day of the Premier League, and injuries have stalled his Chelsea spell at times. However, his biggest problem is that his preferred No 10 position is blocked by teammate Cole Palmer, so he’s had to operate out wide or as a central striker for large parts of his Stamford Bridge career.
It’s been claimed that Christopher Nkunku is expected to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window amid interest from Newcastle United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
The French forward is also heavily linked with a possible move to Italian giants Juventus, though.
Chelsea will demand £59m for Christopher Nkunku
Earlier in May, it was reported that Chelsea put Christopher Nkunku on the table for Juventus during transfer discussions with the Serie A club. Fresh speculation now shines a bit more light on the situation.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea and Juventus are expected to hold more talks about Nkunku after initial contact.
It is explained that both clubs could hold more serious discussions at this summer’s Club World Cup, where both teams are competing.
Apparently, the Blues are prepared to sell the versatile attacker, who is equally open to leaving at the end of the season. The report explains that they are asking for €70m (£59m). It is believed that Juventus’ aim is to try to negotiate a lower transfer fee, though.
Christopher Nkunku’s advisors are worried that Chelsea may price their client out of a move away from the club this summer, but we think it could be best for all parties if a solution is found.
Owen Hargreaves called Christopher Nkunku a “complete player” earlier in the season because of his individual talent. If he can get regular minutes in a central playmaker role somewhere else, we think he could recapture the form he showed in Leipzig colours.
Joao Pedro makes sense as the Christopher Nkunku replacement
If Chelsea do manage to offload Nkunku, it looks like they could already have the perfect replacement lined up.
It’s been reported that Chelsea are in talks about signing Joao Pedro, the talented 23-year-old Brazilian attacker from Brighton. Apparently, they have signalled they are willing to pay £50m to sign him in time for the Club World Cup tournament.

We think the Seagulls star could be a like-for-like replacement for Nkunku at the Bridge.
Like Nkunku, Pedro has the versatility to play as a centre-forward, second striker or a winger. He finds moving positions in the final third a bit more natural, though.
If Chelsea’s plan is to sign Pedro as well as a marquee striker, we suspect the fanbase will get behind that.
