Super Eagles CB, Igoh Ogbu was instrumental as Slavia Prague pulled off a sensational 4-3 comeback victory over Viktoria Plzen in a pulsating league encounter on Sunday.

Slavia appeared headed for a rare defeat after conceding three goals following an early lead.

Despite opening the scoring ten minutes into the game, the Czech champions were stunned by a resurgent Plzen side, who netted twice before halftime and added a third early in the second half to take a 3-1 advantage.

However, Slavia responded with immediate effect. Just two minutes after going 3-1 down, Christos Zafeiris reignited hope by slotting the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs marking his 10th goal of the season.

The momentum shifted in Slavia’s favour shortly after, when Ogbu flicked on a header from a throw in that found David Zima, who levelled the score just past the hour mark.

Tomas Holes then fired Slavia into the lead for the second time in the match with a precise left footed strike into the bottom corner.

The goal sealed a dramatic 4 3 win and reaffirmed the side’s dominant form despite having already clinched the Czech First League title last week with a commanding 5-0 win over Sigma Olomouc.

Ogbu has been a key figure in Trpišovský’s squad this season, making 23 league appearances and featuring in 32 matches across all competitions for the Czech champions.

Despite being named in Nigeria’s squad for recent World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, the 24 year old is yet to earn his first senior cap for the Super Eagles under head coach Eric Chelle.

His performances at club level may strengthen his case for a more significant role within the Super Eagles team.
