Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Nathan Tella is fit and available for selection ahead of their Bundesliga clash with FC St. Pauli on Sunday.

Tella suffered a head injury during Leverkusen’s goalless draw against Union Berlin, which forced him off the pitch after he experienced dizziness.

While the incident initially raised concerns of a concussion, subsequent hospital examinations cleared him of any serious issues.

The 25-year-old returned to training earlier this week, and speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Alonso assured fans that Tella has fully recovered.

“Yes. There’s no problem (with Nathan Tella),” Alonso told reporters.

The Super Eagles forward has been a valuable squad player for Leverkusen this season, registering two goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances and four goals with three assists across all competitions.

His pace and versatility have added depth to Leverkusen’s attack as they push to defend their Bundesliga title.

Alonso also confirmed the return of key players such as Florian Wirtz ahead of Sunday’s fixture, though long-term absentees Jeanuel Belocian, Martin Terrier, and Mario Hermoso remain sidelined.

He last featured for the Super Eagles in a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe in November 2023, a cap-tying appearance that officially committed him to Nigeria.

With just five matches remaining in the Bundesliga season, Leverkusen find themselves in a tight race for the title.

They currently sit six points behind league leaders Bayern Munich, who have amassed 69 points from 29 games.

Tella’s availability will also give Alonso more depth in attack as Leverkusen look to maintain momentum in the Bundesliga.

With the title race still alive and every point critical, having a fully fit squad could make all the difference in the final weeks of the campaign.
