Reports continue to swirl that Chelsea would be willing to part ways with one of their highest earning players during this January transfer window.
It has been stated that Christopher Nkunku is not too keen on remaining at Stamford Bridge after it has emerged that he has struggled to establish himself as a starter this season.
Nicolas Jackson has been the main man up front for Chelsea this season in the Premier League, leaving the Frenchman having to earn the majority of his starts in cup competitions.
He found the net against Morecambe in the FA Cup on Saturday, however in the last Premier League game against Crystal Palace he was overlooked as an option on the bench to try and find the winning goal.
Jason Cundy says Marc Guiu is better suited to Chelsea than Christopher Nkunku
Instead, Enzo Maresca elected to bring on Marc Guiu, and he started up front in the FA Cup while Nkunku started in attacking midfield instead.
Guiu actually sits as the top scorer in the Conference League after the group stages, which is a seriously impressive achievement based on it being his first season as a regular first team player.
Jason Cundy is one of those who has been impressed by the Spaniard, telling TalkSPORT that he believes he is a better fit for the striker role at Chelsea than Nkunku right now.
He said: “Whatever you think of Guiu’s age, we’ve seen a lot of him in the Conference League and there’s something in him.
“He works hard, he’s quick and he gets his goals. The reason he now comes on instead of Nkunku is because he’s a better fit for that Jackson role – Nkunku is not that player I’m afraid.”
Who could Christopher Nkunku join in January?
With rumours strongly linking Nkunku with a move away from Chelsea, there are a number of clubs who have emerged as potential suitors.
Bayern Munich have registered an interest in signing Nkunku, with the Blues open to accepting a decent offer for him if it comes in.
As well as the Bundesliga giants, the likes of PSG and Manchester United have been linked with a potential move.
If Nkunku leaves, it remains to be seen if Chelsea enter the market for a new forward before January comes to an end.
