In the wake of numerous injuries affecting Chelsea’s frontline at the moment, some supporters were left dismayed that the decision was made to allow Joao Felix to leave on loan.
Just six months after rejoining the Blues, Felix was loaned out on deadline day to AC Milan after an underwhelming return to Stamford Bridge.
Since then, the Blues have suffered greatly with injuries to attackers, leaving Enzo Maresca with limited options to construct his frontline.
Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu both hobbled off in the win against West Ham, leaving no recognised striker in the first team squad.
They have since been joined on the treatment table by Noni Madueke, with Maresca stating Madueke had suffered a hamstring injury.

Joao Felix’s underwhelming stats from AC Milan’s Champions League exit
The former Barcelona and Atletico Madrid man had struggled to establish himself as a serious option for Maresca in the Premier League this season. He found it difficult to oust Cole Palmer to play in his preferred position behind the striker.
The move to the San Siro allowed Felix the opportunity to compete in the Champions League. While the majority of his starts this season had come in Europe, it had been the Conference League.
That competition has seen the best of the 25-year-old this season. Joe Cole was full of praise for Felix after he starred in a dominant win over Noah.
However, the Serie A side were dumped out by Feyenoord in the playoff stage, with Chelsea transfer target Theo Hernandez’s red card costing Milan in a 2-1 aggregate loss.
The Portugal international was unable to make the difference in either leg, and his stats don’t make for pretty reading individually.
Joao Felix vs Feyenoord (18/2/25) | Total |
Minutes | 90 |
Shots | 4 |
Chances created | 1 |
Accurate long balls | 0/5 |
Passing accuracy | 67% |
Successful dribbles | 2/5 |
Chelsea fans were critical of Felix’s most recent performance, with them believing a lot of the weaknesses he showed in West London were on display yet again.

Felix’s shooting stats remain a problem since leaving Chelsea
Felix managed seven goals in all competitions in his time back at Chelsea, however just one of those came in the Premier League.
Those goals came from a large amount of shots, with clinical finishing certainly not something that would be associated with the Portuguese star.
Joao Felix Chelsea stats 24/25 | Goals | Shots | Accuracy |
Premier League | 1 | 20 | 5% |
Conference League | 4 | 16 | 25% |
EFL Cup | 0 | 7 | 0% |
FA Cup | 2 | 9 | 22% |
The four shots that Felix managed in Milan’s second leg against Feyenoord didn’t test the opposition goalkeeper, and was merely a sign of what Chelsea fans had become accustomed to while he was here.
After a debut goal that left Blues supporters wondering if they had missed a trick with Felix, that narrative has seemed to pass despite their own woes in front of goal.
