Brighton’s Joao Pedro is a surprise name linked with a move to Chelsea in the transfer rumour mill.
Chelsea have raided Brighton in recent years for the likes of Moises Caicedo, Robert Sanchez and Marc Cucurella.
Various rumours have suggested that the Blues could attempt another swoop on the Amex Stadium by moving for Seagulls attacker Joao Pedro.
It’s been reported that Chelsea have started talks for Joao Pedro and signalled their desire to pay £50m for him. Elsewhere, it’s been claimed that Joao Pedro would be keen to speak with Chelsea if a transfer can be agreed.
Chelsea have not held talks with Joao Pedro
The Chelsea Chronicle understands that suggestions that Chelsea have held talks with Brighton star Joao Pedro are wide of the mark.
While he is a player that the Blues know and rate after assessing him, he is not currently on their transfer radar.
At the age of 23, Pedro is certainly a talented young forward with the potential to play for a major club. He’s still a work in progress, though.

Chelsea’s transfer priority this summer is to make four major signings. Apparently, Enzo Maresca’s side are looking for a striker, a winger, a left-sided defender and a goalkeeper.
Unless something drastic changes, Brighton’s Pedro is not expected to be part of the summer recruitment.
Chelsea need experience in the forward line
If Chelsea do manage to add any new attackers to their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window, their priority should be proven individuals with plenty of experience and know-how.
The current Blues squad is already filled with young rising stars that are learning on the job. If they can supplement that with a bit of proven experience, it could be a winning formula.
In terms of obvious profiles, 26-year-old striker Victor Osimhen ticks so many boxes. The striker’s record of 150 goals in 263 senior club appearances across various clubs highlights his obvious pedigree and quality.
Even though Chelsea are keen on signing Victor Osimhen, they are trying to reach an agreement when it comes to his wages. The difference that an experienced striker like him could make at Stamford Bridge would be worth the big money.
