Liverpool could be about to provide Chelsea with a golden opportunity to solve one of the biggest issues in their squad.
Right now, Chelsea have a very inexperienced squad that has problems both in attack and defence.
There is not much cover for Nicolas Jackson, while Wesley Fofana cannot stay fit. As a result, it has been claimed that Chelsea could now sell Fofana.
Regarding the club’s striker issue, though, one Liverpool player could be the solution.

Liverpool could sell Diogo Jota this summer
Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap is Chelsea’s main striker target, but if the Blues decide that they want someone more experienced than the 22-year-old, then signing Diogo Jota could be the way to go.
According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are open to selling the Portuguese this summer, and he will not cost too much either.
The outlet claims that Jota could be sold for as little as €50m (£42.5m), which is not much in this day and age, especially for a proven forward like the 28-year-old.
In total, Jota has scored 65 goals in 179 appearances for Liverpool. His best season in a red shirt came back in 2021/22, where he scored 21 goals in all competitions.
Jota, of course, helped Liverpool to win both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in that campaign, with Jurgen Klopp’s men beating Chelsea in both finals.
Diogo Jota’s 2021/22 stats | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Premier League | 35 | 15 | 4 |
Champions League | 11 | 1 | 1 |
FA Cup | 5 | 2 | 0 |
Carabao Cup | 4 | 3 | 0 |
Total | 55 | 21 | 5 |
With Chelsea in need of a new forward, it would be silly not to look at Jota. If Arne Slot decides to keep hold of him, though, Ollie Watkins is another experienced name Chelsea should consider.

Chelsea interested in Diogo Jota’s Liverpool teammate Ibrahima Konate
In terms of Chelsea’s search for a centre-half, they could try to sign Jota’s Liverpool teammate Ibrahima Konate.
Last month, it was claimed that Chelsea had enquired about signing Konate, though he does not look to be at the top of their list.
Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi are the centre-halves who have been heavily linked to Stamford Bridge. There is a good chance that one of them ends up in west London if not both.
