Chelsea have made an astonishing amount of signings in the time that Todd Boehly and co have been in charge of the club, with not all of them being seen as successes.
One of those is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who spent just one season with the Blues that resulted in a single Premier League goal.
His nightmare spell at Stamford Bridge continued when he was left out of the squad for the Champions League knockout stages by Graham Potter.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tells Chelsea to sign a new striker
The striker position is one that the Blues have been considering going all out on for a while now, however in the most recent transfer window opted not to sign a big-name forward.
Victor Osimhen was the real target during the summer, however Chelsea decided to keep faith in Nicolas Jackson as their main option, with Christopher Nkunku and Marc Guiu in support.
Aubameyang however has told The Athletic that signing a ‘big striker’ who is ‘like Didier Drogba in the past’ is what the Blues need to do in order to take themselves to the next level.
Chelsea are reportedly looking at a number of strikers in the transfer market, with Liam Delap one player they are very interested in.
John Obi Mikel not keen on Nicolas Jackson
Jackson has enjoyed an impressive campaign for the most this season, however Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has been critical of him since his move to the club.
He said on the Obi One Podcast: “He’s (Jackson) not scoring enough. If we had Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres, I think trust me we would have still been competing to win the Premier League.”
The Nigerian was a big advocate of the club signing Osimhen, with him looking as if he will be on the move again at the end of the season after his loan at Galatasaray comes to an end.
Mikel has never been afraid to voice his opinion on his former side, however he is not the only one who believes a new striker is required at Stamford Bridge.
