Two fringe players at Chelsea were reportedly of interest to Barcelona in the previous transfer window.
Enzo Maresca has not been able to give all of his squad regular game time this season.
The likes of Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi and Carney Chukwuemeka have all struggled for starts. In fact, the last of that trio has not featured in the Premier League at all.
Chukwuemeka is now being linked to Sevilla and a host of other clubs after being overlooked by Maresca.
Barcelona were interested in Axel Disasi and Carney Chukwuemeka
While Chelsea may not want Disasi and Chukwuemeka, they have or at least had some stock in the game.
According to SPORT, Barcelona sporting director and former Chelsea player Deco had his eye on both Disasi and Chukwuemeka last summer.
In the end, nothing happened and the Blues will now have to find another suitor for each player as they look to offload the duo.
While Chukwuemeka is attracting interest from Sevilla, Disasi has caught the attention of Bayer Leverkusen and a couple of other clubs.
Jamie Carragher once compared Axel Disasi to John Terry
Disasi has not played too often this season, but when the central defender has, he has come in for criticism at times.
Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy tore into Disasi after his role in the Blues’ 2-0 defeat to Ipswich Town, for example.
Last season, though, he did put in a dominant performance every now and again, one so dominant that Jamie Carragher even compared him to Chelsea legend John Terry.
Analysing Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad on Sky Sports, Carragher said: “That was a John Terry performance that, and I can’t give any higher praise than that.”
Unfortunately for Chelsea supporters, they have not seen enough of that at Stamford Bridge. It is why the club are so open to selling Disasi.
Since the 26-year-old joined Chelsea from AS Monaco in 2023, fans have seen Disasi’s performance against Ipswich more times than they have seen his display versus City.
