Chelsea are pushing for a place in the top four or five of the Premier League this seasons despite competing with the youngest average side in the top flight.
Enzo Maresca has named the most youthful side in the league on nine different occasions this season, at times with the average age being just 23.5 years.
The ownership have been criticised for the squad building, and Todd Boehly believes Chelsea need experience in their ranks after seeing them drop from second to seventh in the top flight this season.
Maresca is safe in his job, although there will be disappointed at how things have played out in the second half of the campaign.
It is known that the boss will need backing in the summer transfer window, with the spine of the side needing addressing to get them ready to secure their place as a genuine threat in the Premier League.

The goalkeeper role is one that simply has to be properly strengthened. Both Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen have not impressed since being at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea fans were fuming at Jorgensen after his mistake saw them fall to defeat against Aston Villa last time out.
With top-level experience something that should be the first thing looked at, Boehly should look to smash his transfer policy of signing younger players and bring in Ederson from Manchester City.
The Brazilian has won the league six times since moving to England in 2017, although it looks like his time at the Etihad could be coming to an end.

According to Sky Sport Switzerland, six key City players have been told to find a new club in order to rebuild, with one of those being the Brazilian goalkeeper.
This is despite him being a great servant for Pep Guardiola over the years. Jeremy Doku described the goalkeeper as ‘reliable’ to the Man City website earlier this season.
The 31-year-old has faced Chelsea 16 times, keeping a clean sheet in eight of the 10 wins over them in that time.
Given his age and the fact that City are being linked with former Chelsea transfer target Diogo Costa, it is believable that the Blues will be able to complete the deal for a good fee, allowing them to spend big money on either a new striker or centre-back.
Ederson stat proves he would be perfect Chelsea goalkeeper
It has been clear that Chelsea have been very concerned with their goalkeeper being able to play out from the back in order to start at Stamford Bridge.
It was believed Djordje Petrovic does not suit Maresca’s style of play, and this is why last season’s number one is starring on loan for Strasbourg.
Neither Sanchez or Jorgensen have proven to be the perfect goalkeeper for this though, and Ederson’s stats with the ball at his feet are far superior to any option currently in West London.
PL stats | Ederson | Robert Sanchez | Filip Jorgensen |
Pass success rate | 85.1% | 69.8% | 80.7% |
Accurate long balls | 103 | 86 | 6 |
Long pass success rate | 57.2% | 29.3% | 18.8% |
Assists | 3 | 0 | 0 |
It has already been predicted Sanchez won’t return as number one after being dropped by Maresca, and a new starting goalkeeper should be top of the list for the Blues this summer.
