Chelsea find themselves in a position where they may have to replace Renato Veiga this month.
Renato Veiga only joined Chelsea last summer, but the defender could already be heading for the exit door.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Veiga is “pushing” for a move as he looks to establish himself as a first-choice centre-back.
At Chelsea, though, the 21-year-old has mostly been used at left-back, so that is the position the club are going to have to address if he leaves. In terms of replacements, then, they should look no further than Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu.

Patrick Dorgu could be ideal for Chelsea
Dorgu already appears to be a player on Chelsea’s radar. It has been claimed that Chelsea actually had an approach for £35m-rated Dorgu rejected last summer.
The Dane has a lot of potential, but back then, he probably did not need to be a priority for the Blues. But with Veiga now possibly set to leave the club this month, things are a bit different.
Being 20 years old, Dorgu is obviously at the right age for Chelsea. Offensively, he can be very dangerous, too. Having a full-back like that could really help Enzo Maresca‘s side when facing low blocks.
This season, Dorgu has actually being playing on the right wing despite being a left-back, a testament to his attacking ability. And to make things even better, Dorgu is a Chelsea fan himself!

Patrick Dorgu could be a similar signing to Malo Gusto
Not too many Chelsea supporters will be familiar with Dorgu, which is similar to when the club signed Malo Gusto from Lyon.
Gusto was a relatively unknown prospect from Ligue 1 but has proven to be a huge success in west London.
Like Dorgu, the Frenchman is still very young and was 19 when Chelsea bought him, while he is also a full-back more renowned for what he can bring to the team going forward.
Ultimately, if Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have to get out their wallets to sign a replacement for Veiga, then Dorgu should be the man to be brought in.
Alternatively, Maresca could always use Ishe Samuels-Smith, with the Chelsea manager showing this season that he is not afraid to turn to the club’s academy players.
