Overall, it has been a disappointing season for Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
Robert Sanchez started the campaign as Chelsea‘s first-choice goalkeeper. However, the 27-year-old has made some serious errors between the sticks and was dropped for his side’s 2-1 win against West Ham United last Monday.
Sanchez returned for the Blues’ 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, but with that being an FA Cup game you cannot be sure that he has won his place back.
While the Spaniard has been making big mistakes this season, there is still one area where he has done well. In fact, Sanchez has even outperformed one reported Chelsea target there. Chelsea have been linked with Gregor Kobel and other shot-stoppers amid Sanchez’s struggles.

Robert Sanchez has better save percentage than Caoimhin Kelleher
Another goalkeeper Chelsea are thought to be interested in is Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher.
According to TBR Football, Chelsea are one of several clubs who want to sign Kelleher in the summer transfer window.
However, the 26-year-old may not necessarily be an upgrade on Sanchez, or at least when it comes to save percentage.
As per FBref, Kelleher’s save percentage in the Premier League this season is 71%, whereas Sanchez’s is 76.3%.
Whenever Kelleher plays for Liverpool, he normally shines. But he has not played a full campaign as a No.1 at a top club like the Reds or Chelsea. That comes with a different type of pressure and it remains to be seen whether he can actually handle it.
As well as between the sticks, the Blues could also strengthen at the opposite end of the pitch. It is being reported that Chelsea could land Liam Delap before the Club World Cup begins this summer.

Jason Cundy hails Caoimhin Kelleher as ‘top-class’ goalkeeper
One person who would welcome Kelleher to Stamford Bridge is former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy.
Cundy discussed Kelleher on talkSPORT earlier this season and hailed him as a “top-class” goalkeeper.
After some of Sanchez’s howlers in goal, it is not a surprise to hear Chelsea being linked with other shot-stoppers. But the Blues already have a lot of goalkeepers on their books.
Before Kelleher or someone else arrives, there are going to have to be exits, with Sanchez a potential candidate to go.
