Trevoh Chalobah made a surprise return to Chelsea in January when they recalled him early from his loan spell with Crystal Palace, and we think he should be concerned about the latest news.
Trevoh Chalobah recently returned to the Chelsea squad to strengthen the defensive options. So far, the centre-back has started three out of four games across all competitions for his boyhood club since coming back.
Enzo Maresca does have plenty of options to choose from at centre-half. In fact, the Blues manager is guilty of frequently changing his defensive partnership, which can’t be a positive thing.
Maresca told Chalobah he would play an important first-team role at Chelsea upon his return from loan, something he’s stuck to in recent weeks.
However, we think that the 25-year-old defender should now be worried.

Chelsea news could be terrible for Trevoh Chalobah
Despite the fact Chalobah has regularly started for Chelsea since his return, the competition for places could soon be about to get a lot tougher. As a result, we fear that his game time will significantly lessen.
Speaking on Thursday morning, Maresca updated everyone on Chelsea’s injury list. Most notably, Wesley Fofana is expected to be back to 100 per cent fitness in around two or three weeks.
Fofana, 24, was an automatic starter at centre-back earlier in the season before his injury setback, forming a great partnership alongside Levi Colwill.
If both Fofana and Colwill are fit, we’d predict the duo to reunite in the heart of defence every week in the Premier League. That could spell bad news for the likes of Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo and Josh Acheampong in their attempts to play regularly.
Maresca massively rates both Fofana and Colwill, so they’re the clear starters when fit and available.

What will happen with Trevoh Chalobah?
If Fofana returns and Chalobah drops to the bench, it won’t be good news for his Chelsea career. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if these are the academy graduates’s final few months at Stamford Bridge before moving on next season.
It’s felt like the second half of the campaign would be a gigantic chance for Chalobah to cement himself as a key player that the Blues can’t consider getting rid of, but the imminent return of Fofana is likely to push him down the pecking order.
Recent transfer rumours suggested that Chelsea are expected to sell Chalobah in the summer after he’s helped them out for the rest of the 2024/25 season.
There should be a long queue of Premier League clubs lining up to take him because the defender’s proven at the top-flight level.
