Chelsea were interested in signing Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho during the January transfer window.

That interest still seems to be there heading into the summer, but bringing Garnacho in is unlikely to be straightforward.

Chelsea have other wide men on their shortlist, so the 20-year-old is not their only option.

For example, Chelsea are also keen on Jamie Gittens, who has recently been linked with a move to London rivals Arsenal as well.

Alejandro Garnacho wants assurances from Enzo Maresca

While Chelsea have interest in Garnacho, it may take some guarantees to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to the Daily Star, the United ace wants assurances from Enzo Maresca that he will have a key role under him before moving to Chelsea.

The Red Devils also want a big fee for Garnacho, so the Blues are going to have to get their wallet out if they want to sign the Argentina international. The same outlet claims that United’s asking price is £65m.

Garnacho has been an important player for United this season, making 54 appearances in all competitions. Across those games, he has scored 11 goals.

Alejandro Garnacho’s 2024/25 stats Appearances Goals Assists
Premier League 34 6 2
Europa League 13 1 4
FA Cup 3 0 1
EFL Cup 3 3 3
Community Shield 1 1 0
Total 54 11 10

Garnacho has spent most of his career so far playing as a left winger. It means he is likely to compete against Jadon Sancho at Chelsea if the club do add him to their squad and the Englishman remains in west London.

In Chelsea’s last couple of games, Noni Madueke has also played on the left and made an impact there.

How Enzo Maresca feels about signing Alejandro Garnacho

In Madueke, Sancho, Pedro Neto and Tyrique George, Maresca already has good wide options.

There is Mykhailo Mudryk as well, though it is not clear when he will be available again, while Cole Palmer can also play on the right flank.

Even so, it was claimed in February that Maresca wanted Chelsea to bid for Garnacho before the winter transfer window closed. That did not happen, though, but maybe the Chelsea manager will finally get his hands on him in the summer.
