The arrival of Christopher Nkunku at Chelsea nearly 18 months ago caused lots of excitement within the fanbase, but there’s now widespread speculation about him possibly leaving Stamford Bridge.
Christopher Nkunku, 27, went through a stop-start debut season at Chelsea because of injuries. As for this second campaign with the Blues, it’s been a real mixed bag.
The French attacker should be pleased with 13 goals across all competitions so far this term, but it’s worth noting that he’s only scored twice in the Premier League because his starts mostly come in the cup fixtures.
German giants Bayern Munich are the club strongly linked with a move for Nkunku this month.
Bayern have agreed personal terms with Chelsea attacker Nkunku. However, the next step in this potential transfer deal is the clubs negotiating a fee.
Chelsea want around £65m for Nkunku’s sale, and they’ll look for a replacement in the January window if he does exit.
What Chelsea are demanding from Bayern Munich for Christopher Nkunku
Journalist Simon Phillips has reported via Substack on Thursday that Bayern are offering a small upfront fee for Nkunku and then the rest in instalments/add-ons.
However, Chelsea have responded to the Bundesliga side’s first offer by requesting more cash upfront.
It’s going to be interesting to see how hard Bayern push to try bring the Frenchman to the Allianz Arena this month as Vincent Kompany’s side already possess a lot of attacking firepower.
Chelsea’s Nkunku has been linked with various clubs in recent times, but the former RB Leipzig star may return to the Bundesliga if he gets his way in the coming weeks. In fairness, he previously enjoyed great success in the German top division.

Ligue 1 | 55 | 8 | 2 |
Premier League | 29 | 5 | 1 |
A miserable Premier League campaign for Christopher Nkunku
Nicolas Jackson, 23, firmly established himself as the first-choice Chelsea striker under Maresca. Similarly, nobody in world football could budge Cole Palmer from the No.10 position right now.
As a result, versatile Blues attacker Nkunku can’t get much of a look-in for the Premier League this season.
Appearances | Starts | Goals | Assists | Shots | Passes | Crosses | Successful take-ons | Offsides |
18 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 15 | 123 | 1 | 4 | 1 |
Even though Nkunku’s scored 11 goals in 10 cup games this campaign, he’s simply not getting the minutes that a player with his individual ability warrants. There’s a good chance that he’d start for the majority of teams in Europe.
