What Cole Palmer did straight after Enzo Fernandez’s opening goal vs Liverpool

Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez both managed to get their names on the scoresheet in Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

It was Fernandez who struck first, with the midfielder managing to score in just the third minute to put Chelsea 1-0 up.

Palmer‘s goal came at the very end of the match, restoring the Blues’ two-goal lead and ensuring that they secured a vital three points.

Before the match, it was claimed that Palmer was dissatisfied with his role under Enzo Maresca, but the attacking midfielder looked like he really enjoyed his latest outing.

Cole Palmer smashes ball into roof of away end after Chelsea opener

It was Pedro Neto who set up Fernandez’s goal against Liverpool, but Palmer was heavily involved in the build-up.

And the Englishman could not hold in his passion — or maybe frustration amid Chelsea’s inconsistent form — after his teammate found the back of the net.

As per Sky Sports journalist James Savundra, Palmer absolutely leathered the ball into the roof of the away end following Fernandez’s goal.

Passion or pent-up frustration, Chelsea fans will just be glad to see Palmer scoring and dictating again.

His penalty against Arne Slot’s side means he has now netted 15 goals in 34 Premier League appearances, which may actually surprise some after all of the recent criticism that he has faced.

Former Chelsea defender Ola Aina enjoys watching Palmer play, and it is not hard to see why after his latest display.

Gary Neville on Enzo Fernandez goal

Manchester United legend Gary Neville was really impressed with Fernandez’s goal and Palmer’s role in it particularly.

While commentating on the game for Sky Sports, he said: “That is quite simply, a beautiful goal. The movement and spin from Palmer is fantastic…”

While the Liverpool win was a big one for Chelsea, gone are the days when the Blues competed for the Premier League title, but they still have the chance to win something this season.

They are 90 minutes away from reaching the Conference League final, beating Djurgardens 4-1 in the first leg of their semi-final tie.
