Tosin Adarabioyo only joined Chelsea last summer on a free transfer, but there’s already transfer speculation about his future.
Chelsea picked up Tosin Adarabioyo before the start of the season on a free, which has proven to be a really smart piece of business.
The 27-year-old defender offers plenty to the young Blues squad with his experience and leadership. On top of that, he’s been consistent with his performances in 18 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
Recent claims state that Brighton are interested in signing Chelsea’s Tosin as they consider trying to tempt him to the Amex Stadium. On top of that, West Ham hold an interest in signing Chelsea centre-back Tosin.
What’s expected to happen with Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo in January
According to The Express, Tosin is expected to remain at Chelsea beyond the January transfer window.
They mention the interest from Premier League rivals Brighton in the Blues central defender, but he’ll be staying put at Stamford Bridge.
Apparently, Chelsea’s hierarchy really value Tosin. In addition, Blues head coach Enzo Maresca views the English defender as an important part of his squad.
Tosin is one of Chelsea’s best signings from last summer, so it’s good news that he’s set to stay. As well as being a solid option in the heart of defence, his leadership to help such a young group is so vital on and off the pitch.
Transfer move could be bad news for Tosin Adarabioyo
Tosin has been positioned around third or fourth in Chelsea’s pecking order for centre-backs this season. Therefore, he’s actually played a decent amount of minutes, especially since the injury to Wesley Fofana.
However, there may now be a risk that Tosin’s minutes less in the second half of the season because of the transfer decision to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace.
From the outside looking in, Tosin could now be fighting with teammates Chalobah and Josh Acheampong to start as the right-sided centre-half. That’s because Levi Colwill is the ever-present left-sided centre-back.
Interestingly, Colwill is an injury doubt for Chelsea versus Wolverhampton Wanders on Monday, so a massive opportunity may open up for a couple of defenders to prove themselves to Maresca.
