There could be some barriers for Chelsea to overcome if they are to sign Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
Kobbie Mainoo is currently being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as he approaches the final two years of his contract.
In fact, it has been claimed that Chelsea are actually favourites to sign Mainoo. Yet it does not look like it is going to be that easy for the Blues.
A switch to Chelsea would see Mainoo join a squad that already possesses Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia.

Chelsea could be unwilling to meet Kobbie Mainoo’s wage demands
While Chelsea are clearly keen on Mainoo, it appears that the club are not prepared to do whatever it takes to sign him this year.
According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are seen as Mainoo’s most likely destinations, but there are doubts over whether either club would be ready to pay the salary that he wants.
At United, it is thought that the 19-year-old’s representatives are pushing for a £200,000-a-week contract. It would explain why a new deal has not been signed yet, as that is big money for a teenager.
In the past, United legend Rio Ferdinand has compared Mainoo to Clarence Seedorf, showing the talent he possesses.

How much do Manchester United want for Kobbie Mainoo?
Ideally, United and Ruben Amorim will want to keep hold of Mainoo. The England international has so much potential.
As a result of his contract situation, though, GiveMeSport’s report claims that United will entertain offers in the region of £70m for Mainoo.
That kind of valuation is unlikely to scare Chelsea away. After all, they spent £107m on Fernandez and then another £115m on Caicedo in the same year.
Where the problem lies seems to be with Mainoo’s wages. Mainoo’s desire to remain at United also means there is no guarantee of him leaving Old Trafford.
Ultimately, Mainoo’s situation is quite a complicated one, with Chelsea now entangled in it.
