There were several impressive performances as Chelsea beat Tottenham on Thursday night.
Chelsea moved back up to fourth in the Premier League table after a 1-0 victory at home to Spurs. Incidentally, it’s now four wins on the bounce against their London rivals.
Enzo Fernandez clinched three points for the Blues with his header in the second half, and Cole Palmer registered an assist for the first time since December with the cross.
Following his impressive midweek performance, Tim Sherwood wants Chelsea to build around Fernandez because he’s emerging as a real talisman. However, several of his teammates also deserve big credit for rolling their sleeves up and impressing in the first game back after the international break.

Levi Colwill amazed by Moises Caicedo performance in Chelsea win vs Tottenham
Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill, who helped keep a vital clean sheet versus Spurs, waxed lyrical about teammate Moises Caicedo for his impact on Thursday’s game.
Like always, the defensive midfielder covered every blade of grass in a dominant individual display
During a post-match interview, Colwill admitted that he’s constantly commenting on how brilliant Caicedo is in midfield just in front of him.
He said via Chelsea’s official YouTube channel: “Moi [Caicedo] just breaking up everything and making everything look so easy. If I had a mic on me when I’m playing, all you’d hear is, ‘Wow, Moi’. That’s all I do because he makes it so easy for us in defence because he stops everything before it gets to us.”
The numbers behind Caicedo’s latest all-action display highlight just how much work he gets through.
Minutes played | Accurate passes | Succesful dribbles | Tackles won | Ground duels won | Aerial duels won | Was fouled | Match rating |
90 | 37/41 (90%) | 1/1 (100%) | 4/4 (100%) | 8/9 (89%) | 1/4 (25%) | 3 | 8.0 |
During a previous interview, Caicedo admitted he idolised N’Golo Kante. Well, he’s regularly putting in the type of performances this season that the Chelsea and French legend would be proud of.

Levi Colwill mentions Enzo Fernandez brilliance as well
On top of praise for Caicedo, Chelsea defender Colwill also highlighted an excellent display from his midfield partner. In fact, he explained that Fernandez doesn’t get enough credit.
Colwill said in the video above: “Enzo with an amazing run. I don’t think people will give him as much praise as he should get, especially for that goal.”
It’s often mentioned in the media that Caicedo and Fernandez cost over £100m each to bring to Stamford Bridge. However, the noise around that grows quieter and quieter as they both shine on a much more consistent basis.
Fernandez enjoys playing alongside Caicedo, and the duo looks quite formidable when they’re in this type of form.
