Fear The Walking Dead: June Dorie reunites with Dwight and Sherry and reveals gruesome secret past

June Dorie revealed that she worked on gruesome radioactive top secret experiments on the dead for Padre on Sunday’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead.

The season eight episode titled Blue Jay opened with tragic widow June [Jenna Elfman] nailing up signs warning people to stay away from Padre. 

When she saw an inflatable boat coming from the direction of Padre, she shot the two people on the boat with sedative darts. Once they were knocked unconscious, June cut off their trigger fingers, took away their weapons and pushed their boat back to sea.

She then went back to her shack and put the fingers into a jar filled with other fingers. Later, when patrolling her area, she saw that someone had written on her sign. A man, who said his name was Adrian [Jonathan Medina], followed her back to her shack and said he needed her help to find his daughter.

‘I know you can help me,’ Adrian said.

‘Get out,’ June said, pointing her gun on him.

He showed her a picture of his daughter Hannah and begged her to help him.

‘We are forming an army to take on Padre,’ Adrian said. ‘You could be a part of it.’

‘If I see you here again, I’ll kill you,’ June warned him.

Adrian said they knew who she was now and would be coming back. At night, June packed up her things including her jar of fingers. 

The next day she shot at another group coming from Padre in an inflatable boat. A child named Finch [Gavin Warren] was on the boat that June attacked.

June was shocked to see her old friends Dwight [Austin Amelio] and Sherry [Christine Evangelista] were the ones she shot with her sedative darts. Dwight told her that Finch had appendicitis and they were on their way to take him to Padre’s clinic. Dwight told June that she would have to do the surgery since their boat was out.

June realized that Finch was Sherry and Dwight’s child. Dwight said they had been following Padre’s rules and that no one else knew. They promised June a boat if she would do the surgery. June agreed and took them to an abandoned railway car where she said they should do the surgery.

Sherry found a file on the train that had pictures of people who had been bitten by the dead. Adrian then came on the train and pointed a gun at them demanding that they help him find her his daughter.

Sick kid: Dwight told her that Finch had appendicitis and they were on their way to take him to Padre’s clinic

Medical files: Sherry found a file on the train that had pictures of people who had been bitten by the dead

Zombie head: A menacing zombie head snapped at them until June stabbed it with a knife

‘I’m sure your daughter’s fine,’ Dwight said. ‘Padre hasn’t lost a kid yet and I teach them how to fight. If you tell me what your kid looks like then we can figure something out here.’

Dwight then managed to get Adrian’s gun but it fired a bullet in the process knocking out the train’s control panel and power. Walkers heard the noise and started to descend.

‘I can’t do the surgery without power,’ June said.

June then confessed to them that she used to work on the train as part of a secret Padre mission where they conducted experiments on those who had been bitten. She told them that the train was filled with dead. June said Shrike [Maya Eshet] had an idea that the effects of the bites could be stopped with radiation.

‘Slow and painful it was worse than dying from the bites,’ June said. ‘Shrike tried to force me to administer the treatments but I wouldn’t do it, so I ran.’

June said the panel to restart the electrical was at the back of the train. Adrian begged June to help him find his daughter. Dwight climbed on the top of the train and was able to restart the power. Sherry then told Dwight that she didn’t want to go back to Padre.

‘Once we are settled we will find a way to let everyone inside know the truth about Padre,’ Sherry said.

‘You really think we can do this, be a family?’ Dwight said.

‘I know we can,’ Sherry said.

Fingers collection: June was chopping off the trigger fingers of Padre members and kept them in a jar

Just as Dwight and Sherry kissed on the top of the railway car, the roof collapsed and they fell in. Dwight started shooting at the walkers but ran out of ammo. June went into the train to go save them. June walked through a train car with walkers chained to the side.

‘I’m so sorry,’ June said to them.

June started to hit the walkers on the head when her gun dropped to the floor. She slipped and the walkers fell on top of her. Adrian then came to her rescue and killed them.

‘I told you not to follow me,’ June said.

‘Good thing I didn’t listen,’ Adrian said.

Adrian told her again that he wanted her help to get his daughter out of Padre. Finch came with them and they killed all the walkers and saved Dwight and Sherry. Dwight then told them that they weren’t going back to Padre.

‘We’re your parents,’ Dwight said.

Sherry said they were going to figure things out as a family. Adrian then recognized one of the walkers on the train as his daughter Hannah and grabbed June.

‘You knew,’ Adrian said. ‘You killed her.’

‘I tried to save her,’ June said. ‘I treated her for asthma when she first came to Padre. She was just a scared kid. She missed her dad.’

June said Hannah went on a scout and got bit on her back and she couldn’t amputate. June said she used radiation that stopped the infection, but also made things worse. June said she had to do it because Shrike held a gun on her.

‘I made sure Shrike couldn’t do to anyone else what she did to me, and I took her trigger finger,’ June said. ‘I knew they couldn’t do the experiments without me, which meant as long as I stayed away from here…stayed away from people, no one else I cared about could get hurt.’

‘She was all I had left,’ Adrian said. ‘I understand now why you want to be alone.’

Adrian went in the car and hugged his zombie daughter and the other walkers in the car ate him.

June then did the surgery on Finch. June told Dwight and Sherry that she wanted the boat in exchange. They said they wanted to go with her now.

‘We are going to try and be a family,’ Dwight said.

‘What’s that got to do with me?’ June said.

New family: ‘What’s that got to do with me?’ June said after Dwight revealed he was trying to be a family

‘You’re family,’ Dwight said.

June agreed. She said she just wanted to put Adrian and Hannah to rest because they had suffered so much. Just then Shrike and other Padre soldiers burst into the car.

‘Hello Blue Jay,’ Shrike said to June before knocking her out.

When June woke up, Shrike was standing over her.

‘How did you find me?’ June said.

Shrike insisted that the train was about saving lives. Dwight said she was a liar. Shrike told June she needed to pick up where she left off. They brought in a zombie head that they lowered at Finch while he was still under anesthesia. The head ultimately bit him.

‘I’m going to kill you,’ Dwight said to Shrike.

‘Why would you do that? I am the only one who can save his life,’ Shrike said. ‘Well, we are.’

On purpose: A zombie head was purposefully lowered until it bit and infected Finch

Staying alive: ‘Why would you do that? I am the only one who can save his life,’ Shrike said. ‘Well, we are’

Shrike had her soldiers take Dwight and Sherry away.

‘Better get to work Blue Jay,’ Shrike said.

Shrike then cut off June’s finger.

The show ended with Morgan Jones [Lennie James] Madison Clark [Kim Dickens] in a truck being taken to an unknown destination. Madison asked him what was holding him back from helping Mo who needed him. 

Madison fell to the ground pretending that she couldn’t breathe. Morgan called to the people driving to stop and give her oxygen. Madison hit the guards and told Morgan to use this opportunity to escape. Morgan ran through the woods.
