This is the story of Nicolae Miu, the man who stabbed a teen at the Apple River in Wisconsin. He later tried to claim self defense.
Nicolae Miu, 54, was found guilty of multiple charges, including first-degree reckless homicide, for the 2022 Apple River stabbing that killed 17-year-old Isaac Schuman and injured four others.

The jury found Miu guilty of one count of first-degree reckless homicide, four counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and one count of battery.
Miu claimed he acted in self-defense after being confronted by a group of tubers while searching for a lost phone in the river.
The prosecution argued that Miu was the aggressor, while Miu’s attorneys maintained he acted in self-defense1. Ultimately, Miu was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
