Astonishing CCTV has captured the moment two burglars accidentally set themselves on fire after a bungled arson job.
The bumbling burglars were attempting to set a car alight outside a home on Swinburne Drive in Wangaratta in Victoria’s north-east on Saturday night when their actions backfired.Â
A pool of accelerant was doused near the vehicle before the arsonists quickly moved away to light it from a distance, which engulfed them instead.Â
One of the men can be seen rolling around on the ground frantically as the other ran past in a ball of fire screaming while trying to rip off his burning clothes.Â
Victorian Police detectives released the footage of the failed attempt on Tuesday in the hope of tracking down the two men.
Officers allege the men broke into the nearby home and stole personal belongings prior to torching the car outside.Â
The occupants weren’t home at the time.
The two men were last seen running towards Cambridge Drive.

Dramatic CCTV shows the moment the two men caught alight instead of the car
It comes days after unbelievable footage emerged of another arsonist who accidentally set themselves alight while allegedly trying to set fire to a Melbourne fast food restaurant in the early hours of Christmas Day.
Emergency services rushed to a strip of shops in Doncaster East at about 2.40am.
Police said two people drove to the shops on Doncaster Road in a white Toyota Tarago before they approached the outlet with a jerry can.
One offender stood guard as the other poured flammable liquid over the store front before setting the liquid alight, causing a ball of flames to erupt.
Seconds later the offender leapt backwards as his pants became engulfed in flames. His alleged accomplice quickly grabbed the jerry can while he ran down the street with his pants on fire.
The pair stopped a short distance away from the shop and tried to remove their pants.
Unsuccessful, the man on fire is seen running down the street with their flaming pants trailing behind them, seemingly stuck around their left ankle.
Anyone who witnessed either incident, or has footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.Â
