Cristiano Ronaldo believes the Ballon d’Or should be awarded to a player whose team has won the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Nations League final between Portugal and Spain in Munich, the 40-year-old Al Nassr forward shared his opinion with reporters.
“In my opinion, whoever wins it should be on a team that has won trophies,” Ronaldo said. “The Ballon d’Or winner should be in a team that has won the Champions League.”
The Ballon d’Or, first awarded in 1956 by France Football magazine, is given annually to the player judged to have performed best over the previous season.
