Nigerian singer Rema says he has no regrets about the trolling and criticism he faced at the early stages of his career.

In a recent video interview shared online, Rema reflected on how negative feedback on social media ended up fuelling his growth instead of stopping it.

According to him, the online trolling he received for his unique sound actually pushed him forward rather than holding him back.

“It is beautiful to see something that people troll and criticise me for. And, you know what? I’m benefiting from that. Imagine if I had stopped or listened to trolls,” he said.

He added that if he had let the noise get to him, his global impact today would likely not exist.

“And four years later, it paid. And more to come,” he continued.

Rema also spoke about breaking ground in markets many artists hadn’t reached yet. He mentioned touring India, which he described as “a huge deal.”
