Nigerian-British media personality, Vick Hope confirms she is expecting her first child with husband, DJ Calvin Harris

Nigerian-British media personality, Vick Hope, has announced she is expecting her first child with her husband, DJ Calvin Harris.

The BBC Radio 1 presenter, 35, who married her DJ husband in Ibiza in 2023, revealed the good news live on her BBC Radio 1 drivetime show.

During a conversation with her co-host Jamie Laing on Monday, she told listeners: ‘I should say that this is my final week. I wanted to share that with you because we’ve had such a lovely time over the last few weeks. That time is coming to an end for a bit because I’m going on maternity leave next week,’ she said.

Jamie told her: ‘You’re an amazing friend, an amazing person, and you’re just going to be an amazing mum,.’ She replied: ‘Oh, thank you.’

After being probed by Jamie about being famously private, Vick later explained she didn’t want to make a huge deal of sharing the news: ‘This is not an announcement, by the way. People keep saying are you going to announce, are you going to announce? And I’m like, I’m not the King.

‘I do not see the point, it’s not for me. I’ll be honest, I struggle with anything that’s personal or private. I will tell you a story about eating a kebab out of a bin, that’s one thing. But there’s a line and so I’ve never been that big on sharing. Particularly because I’ve just been enjoying this privately and quietly.’

She went on to explain that she struggled sharing details about her private life as there was a ‘bit of a line’ and she wanted to enjoy the news with her husband and their loved ones.

Vick and Calvin, 41, previously sparked pregnancy rumours after the Grammy Awards back in 2024.

The speculation started after the presenter posted a photo from the awards event where she was seen gently placing her hand on her stomach, which led fans to wonder if this was a subtle hint at a pregnancy.

However, Radio 1 presenter Vick quickly put an end to the rumours on Instagram. 

She responded to a fan who urged others to stop commenting on women’s bodies, saying: ‘Yep, just placing my hand on my tummy! I think I was smoothing my dress or checking my post-brekkie bloat or something but thank you all for all the lovely messages.’ 

Vick and Calvin, whose real name is Adam Richard Wiles, celebrated their first wedding anniversary last year, after tying the knot in a lavish Ibiza Glastonbury-themed wedding in September 2023.
