A Nigerian citizen, Anthony Abakporo, has drawn public attention to the state of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, claiming that the 30-kilometre stretch reportedly commissioned by President Bola Tinubu remains incomplete.
In a series of posts shared on the social media platform X, Abakporo alleged that the project is being used as political propaganda. His commentary followed a viral post by another user, @babskay24, who questioned the authenticity of the commissioning, stating, “The next thing is to plant security men there to stop people from assessing the road. APC is a den of thieves.”
Abakporo, responding to the post, simply wrote, “Propaganda!” He later expanded on his criticism, explaining that he took a motorbike to travel through the route due to the inability of cars to access certain portions of the road.
“I had to fly bike because car cannot continue to some point of the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway,” Abakporo wrote. “After watching the Arise TV morning show today and the challenge they suggested that we all prove the government right or wrong. Had to do this.”
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is a highly publicised 700-kilometre infrastructure project intended to connect Lagos State to Cross River, enhancing regional trade and tourism.
