The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old, Nda Baba Mohammed for being in possession of counterfeit CFA currency at the Hajj camp in Minna. 

 

 

Spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspect belonged to a syndicate specialising in selling counterfeit currencies to unsuspecting Hajj Pilgrims.

 

“On the 18th of May, 2025, at about 11:45am, based on credible information received indicated that a syndicate which specialises in selling alleged counterfeit currencies to unsuspecting Hajj Pilgrims, and one of their suspected member was sighted in Hajj Camp Tudun-Fulani, Bosso Minna,” the statement read. 

 

“Police operatives attached to Bosso Div swiftly mobilised to the scene and arrested one Nda Baba Mohammed, 27yrs of Agaie LGA who was found in possession of forty thousand Francs CFA suspected to be counterfeit currency.

 

“In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed that he stole the said currencies from the house of one Mohammed of Kwara State, during the period he went to carry out farming activities for him.

 

“The suspect is in custody and further investigation is being conducted to ascertain the origin of the said currencies, after which he will be charged to court for prosecution accordingly.”
