Chelsea have constructed an intriguing plan to give their young loanee the opportunity to develop at a higher-level club next season.
The Chelsea group was far too bulky if you rewind to last summer, so it’s no surprise that there was a mass exodus of individuals leaving on loan spells to play regular first-team football elsewhere.
Without a doubt, the Blues make the most of the loan system better than most teams. For example, the likes of Levi Colwill and Reece James massively benefited from spells away from Stamford Bridge in their youth.
Meanwhile, Chelsea even recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace in January to help them for the second half of the campaign.

Chelsea want to send Teddy Sharman-Lowe on loan to the Championship
If you look across all the Chelsea loanees this season, Teddy Sharman-Lowe has enjoyed a strong individual campaign.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper has been a key part of a Doncaster Rovers side promoted from League Two, and they can still secure the division title on the final day.
According to The Sun, Chelsea’s plan is to send Sharman-Lowe to the Championship next season.
The report explains that the Blues want their young shot-stopper to be tested in a higher league to raise his level and profile.
Doncaster manager Grant McCann claims Sharman-Lowe has been “exceptional” during his season-long loan in League Two this season, as quoted by The Herald.
Sharman-Lowe joined Doncaster last summer on loan in search of regular minutes in England’s fourth tier. Now, the plan is to test him out in the second division in the 2025/26 season.
The England Under-21 international is definitely an exciting prospect with huge potential, so we’d be intrigued to see how he copes with the step up.

Teddy Sharman-Lowe’s season in numbers
Sharman-Lowe has played every minute of Doncaster’s promotion-winning season, which is a sign of just how important he’s been.
Here is a look at the young goalkeeper’s individual statistics in the league.
Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets | Save percentage | Pass accuracy | Error led to goal | Penalty saves | Average match rating |
45 | 49 | 13 | 63.7% | 68.3% | 1 | 1 | 7.05 |
Ahead of next season, Chelsea’s main goalkeeper options include Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, Filip Jorgensen and Mike Penders. Let’s wait and see if Sharman-Lowe can develop to push himself into this conversation in the next year or so.
