Nigerians have expressed outrage after young secondary school students were seen in their school uniforms, standing in the pouring rain while waiting to welcome President Bola Tinubu to Benue State.

A video shared online shows the students lining the road leading from the Makurdi airport. The road was flooded due to the rainfall, and passing cars splashed water on the children as they waited in the rain, singing welcome songs.

Nigerians took to various platforms to criticise the Benue State government for its handling of the president’s visit.
