Chelsea are at risk of losing out on one their transfer targets to Brighton, with the Seagulls looking to be a thorn in their side again this summer.
The Blues are eyeing up a number of transfer targets this summer to try and tweak the squad in order to give Enzo Maresca the best possible chance following his successful first season at the club.
Maresca was very keen on signing Liam Delap, and Chelsea beat a number of top Premier League sides to a deal to bring him in before the Club World Cup got underway.
The Blues were unable to get the signings of Jamie Gittens or Mike Maignan over the line before the transfer window temporarily closed, however the winger remains a top target.

Brighton make bid for Chelsea target Wesley
Defensive reinforcements are also being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and Flamengo defender Wesley is now a target of Chelsea.
The full-back enjoyed a very strong performance against the Blues during the Brazilian side’s 3-1 win over them in the Club World Cup.
However, they are under pressure from fellow top sides to get the deal done. According to The Telegraph, Brighton have beaten Chelsea to the punch by making a £20m bid for the 21-year-old.
The report goes on to say that Manchester City are also keen on Wesley, with top Premier League clubs seeming to look past his error that led to Pedro Neto’s opening goal last time out.

Brighton a constant thorn in Chelsea’s side in transfer windows
Chelsea’s business in recent years is well documented with their Premier League rivals, with them sending a lot of money to their owner Tony Bloom since Todd Boehly became owner of the club.
The Blues were forced to fork out a then-league record transfer fee to sign Moises Caicedo just 12 months after they had spent an extortionate fee on Marc Cucurella.

Both deals have worked out well for Chelsea, however many have criticised Robert Sanchez since he moved to Stamford Bridge from the same club.
The Blues even nabbed Brighton’s coaching staff when they brought in Graham Potter as manager back in 2022, however he had already departed before the season had come to an end.
