Former Super Eagles forward, John Utaka, has shared his opinion about Super Eagles player, Ahmed Musa’s sudden departure from the national team camp to ‘get married to his new wife.’
Musa left the team’s camp after Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Ghana in the Unity Cup in London .
Nigerian football fans were left stunned when news surfaced that the veteran forward had returned to Kano to tie the knot with his fourth wife, Asmau Moriki, in Kano.
Speaking on Brila FM, Utaka reacted to the news, urging that due process must be followed in handling of national team matters.
“We don’t know what discussions were held before Musa went to camp. It’s a national duty — things have to be done correctly,” Utaka said.
Musa’s appearance against Ghana marked his first game for Nigeria since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. He came on as a second half substitute in the hard-fought win over Ghana.
Musa’s marriage to Asmau Moriki is his fourth known marriage.
His first marriage was to Jamila in 2013. The couple, who share two children, divorced in 2017 after reported issues tied to his desire to take a second wife.
Shortly after the separation, he married Juliet Ejue, his second wife, from Ogoja in Cross River State. That marriage also ended, though the timeline of their split wasn’t publicly confirmed.
In 2021, he married Mariam, becoming his third wife.
