Pop icon Britney Spears was met by authorities at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Thursday after an incident on a private flight from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

As per TMZ during the flight, Spears, 43, consumed alcohol and lit a cigarette, causing alarm among the flight attendants. Despite being ordered to extinguish the cigarette, sources described Spears as “difficult” during the exchange.

While smoking on a private jet is not universally prohibited, it is typically at the discretion of the plane’s owner. After the plane landed, authorities, possibly from Customs, approached Spears and issued her a warning before allowing her to leave. LAX police confirmed they did not respond to the situation.

Spears’ behavior on the flight has sparked some concern, with sources citing ongoing mental health struggles that have reportedly affected her daily life. There is also lingering frustration among those close to the singer regarding her recent release from conservatorship. One source remarked that the judge in her case was influenced by public pressure from the “Free Britney” movement, dismissing medical reports that had been presented.

This incident comes amid Spears’ recent vacation in Mexico, where she has posted several videos of herself dancing at a resort and shared beachside photos on Instagram. The singer, who ended her relationship with Paul Richard Soliz in March, seems to be embracing her new single life after a series of turbulent relationships. Reps for both Spears and JSX, the private jet service, declined to comment on the events.
