British singer-songwriter Jessie J has opened up about her battle with early breast cancer, revealing that she was diagnosed prior to the release of her track “No Secrets” in April.

The singer, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, shared the news with her followers on Instagram on Tuesday.

“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer before ‘No Secrets’ came out,” Jessie J explained in her post, emphasising the importance of the word “early.” Despite the diagnosis, Jessie expressed gratitude for the early detection, acknowledging the difficulties of cancer while focusing on the positive aspects of her situation.

The singer has been undergoing a series of tests since the release of her song, and she explained that she decided to be open about her journey for a personal reason. “I just wanted to be open and share it because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough,” she said.

Jessie J also noted how sharing her experiences in the past has helped her connect with others facing similar challenges.

Despite the situation, the singer found humour in the coincidence of releasing No Secrets alongside her personal health battle, saying, “It’s a weird topic and a weird situation.”
