Selena Gomez deletes viral video crying over her people being “attacked”, she has responded to US Senate candidate Sam Parker’s criticism regarding her emotional video.
Recently, Selena Gomez removed a heartfelt video in which she expressed her sorrow over the deportation of Mexican individuals in the United States.
An advocate for immigrant rights, Selena produced the Netflix documentary “Living Undocumented” in 2019. Additionally, she authored a poignant essay for Time, expressing her fears for undocumented individuals amidst ongoing immigration debates, stating, “When I see debates about immigration rage on social media, I feel afraid for those [who are undocumented]. I feel afraid for my country.”
In a recent video, Selena again conveyed her distress over the deportation of undocumented immigrants.
On January 27, Selena Gomez utilized her Instagram stories to share her emotional reaction to ICE’s deportation of Mexican individuals. Tearfully, she remarked, “All my people are getting attacked. The children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
Accompanying the video with a Mexican flag emoji, it quickly gained traction online. Many commended Selena for her support of undocumented immigrants, while she faced criticism from right-wing politicians and media figures for her emotional response to President Donald Trump’s new deportation policies.
Shortly thereafter, Selena deleted the video but posted a message stating, “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people.” This post was also removed soon after.
Among her critics was US Senate candidate Sam Parker, who took to X/Twitter to comment, “Deport Selena Gomez,” prompting significant backlash on social media.
In response, Selena swiftly addressed Parker’s remarks in another Instagram story, stating, “Oh Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat.”
