Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has used several players out of position in the current campaign.
Chelsea captain and defender Reece James has played in midfield, while Moises Caicedo started at right-back as recently as last Sunday.
Frank Leboeuf thinks Caicedo played well there, but the point still stands. The likes of James and Caicedo have not really complained, which will please Maresca.
However, one of their teammates does not seem too happy with the position he has been given of late.
Noni Madueke not liking it on the left
Noni Madueke had a good game against Liverpool, helping Chelsea to beat the Premier League champions 3-1.
After the game, at one point, Madueke was even watching his highlights on the big monitor at Stamford Bridge, so he clearly did not put in a performance to be ashamed about on the day.
Madueke looked happy, but journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that he has heard from sources that the 23-year-old is not enjoying playing on the left, where Maresca has switched him to recently.
Speaking about the right winger on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, Phillips said: “I’ve heard from SPTC sources that Madueke much prefers to play on the right and doesn’t really enjoy it on the left.”
Whatever the case, Madueke has definitely been one of Chelsea’s best players this season. In 37 appearances, the England international has scored 11 goals.
Chelsea take on Djurgarden in the second leg of their Conference League semi-final tie on Thursday, and for Keita Kosugi, who plays for the Swedish side, Madueke is one of the best wingers in England.
Who Noni Madueke could join if he really is unhappy
If Madueke is unhappy with how he is being used and decides to leave Chelsea this summer, the £29m wide man will have options.
For example, it has already been claimed that Newcastle United are keen on Madueke. As well as the Magpies, Aston Villa are also interested in Madueke.
Chelsea, Newcastle and Villa are all around the same level right now, with Newcastle even above the Blues in the Premier League table. Joining either club would not be a terrible move for Madueke if that is what he wants.
