Chelsea continue to be a really appealing destination for players, and one reason is because of the club’s location.
The Conference League winners are, of course, located in London, which has seemingly given them an advantage in the race for one player this summer.
Chelsea have already added one new forward to their squad after signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. Former Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud recently spoke about Delap, describing the 22-year-old as a “very talented” footballer.
And with the transfer window reopening on Monday, Delap may not be the only No.9 Chelsea bring in ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Joao Pedro tells Igor Julio he wants to live in London
Despite signing Delap to bolster their forward options, it has been claimed that Chelsea still have Joao Pedro on their radar.
Other Premier League clubs are also thought to be interested in the 23-year-old, but his Brighton & Hove Albion teammate Igor Julio thinks he will prioritise a move to London because of his desire to live there.
In an exclusive interview with Trivela, Julio said: “I told him that he has to think about what he wants from his career. In my opinion, if I were going to a Big Six team, I would go to a team that competes in the Premier League, plays in the Champions League and is always in a position to win.
“I would go to Liverpool and I think he would fit in perfectly at Liverpool. It’s because I’ve always dreamed of playing for Liverpool and I would go there.
“He always told me that he really wants to live in London, so I think he will prioritise what comes from there first.”
Pedro is not the only forward Chelsea are looking at following the acquisition of Delap. Chelsea are keen on Hugo Ekitike, too, though his price tag could prevent a move to Stamford Bridge from happening.
Eintracht Frankfurt are believed to want €100m (£85m) for the Frenchman. Regarding Pedro’s potential price tag, according to The Telegraph, Brighton are likely to demand a £60m fee.
Chelsea also looking at another Brighton player
Chelsea targeting players at Brighton is not new. They have already signed Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Robert Sanchez from their Premier League rivals.
The Blues could sign Pedro next, but he is not the only Brighton star who is currently being linked with a move to Enzo Maresca‘s side.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Pervis Estupinan as well, with the arrival of a new left-back at Stamford Bridge possible. Ben Chilwell is expected to leave the club this summer, while Renato Veiga’s future is up in the air. It means Chelsea may need to purchase another left-sided defender to help out Cucurella.
