Chelsea have officially made their first big-name signing of the summer, as Liam Delap’s long-awaited move has finally been announced.

The striker had been expected to make the move after the Blues did enough to qualify for next season’s Champions League, giving them a huge advantage over Manchester United.

Delap is expected to be the first of a few big names to come through the door at Stamford Bridge this summer, as Enzo Maresca reaps the rewards of a successful first campaign.

Another name who has been strongly linked with a move is Morgan Rogers, who enjoyed a wonderful individual campaign with Aston Villa.

Morgan Rogers drops Chelsea hint after reacting to Liam Delap announcement

Chelsea are sensing a genuine chance at signing Rogers, and one of the factors behind the interest will no doubt be the potential to see him play alongside well-documented friend, Cole Palmer.

It seems he also has a close relationship with Chelsea’s newest player too. Rogers left a comment on Delap’s Instagram post where he said goodbye to Ipswich Town upon his arrival in West London.

The Villa man commented three heart emojis, as Chelsea continue to maintain interest in signing the attacker.

The pair are both products of the Manchester City academy side that has already benefited the Blues greatly. Romeo Lavia, Tosin Adarabioyo and manager Maresca all played and worked there too.

Featuring alongside Palmer was likely one of the Blues’ biggest selling points to the 22-year-old, however they can now add their new striker to the list of players he could feature alongside at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s ambitious potential method to sign Morgan Rogers

If Chelsea were to buy Rogers, it would likely end up being one of their largest investments in club history. It has been reported Villa are holding out for £90m (GiveMeSport) to part ways with him this summer.

For this reason, they are more likely to look to get inventive in any potential transfer talks, which could see them look to pitch a swap deal.

It has been stated that Chelsea could consider sending Nicolas Jackson to their Premier League rivals in exchange for Rogers, with Unai Emery a noted fan of the Senegal international.

Despite two seasons as the main man up top, the Blues are still looking at another new striker to bring in, with Hugo Ekitike high on the list.
