Local rivals Chelsea and Fulham have conducted plenty of transfer business with each other over the years, and one potential move has now been mentioned for this summer.

The Chelsea squad was a manageable size for Blues head coach Enzo Maresca last season, but it required plenty of sales and loans to trim down the numbers.

Yet again, reports suggest that several individuals could leave Stamford Bridge before next season begins.

Chelsea are confident of selling more than 10 senior players to trim the squad and to raise funds. In fairness, there are some high-profile names on big wages due to return from various loan spells across Europe.

Fresh speculation suggests that Marco Silva’s Fulham could be keen on signing a Chelsea first-team player.

Fulham consider move for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Journalist Simon Phillips claims via Substack that Fulham are contemplating a move to sign Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, 26, this summer after holding long-standing interest in him.

He reports that the Blues have made their box-to-box midfielder available in the summer window. Apparently, they expect several clubs to move for him, and Fulham could be one of them.

Even though Dewsbury-Hall only joined Chelsea a year ago from Leicester City, Maresca’s side have greenlit his potential exit. The £30m Englishman (Sky Sports) struggled to really make his mark last season because he couldn’t break into the best starting line-up.

Competition Appearances Goals Assists
Conference League 13 4 3
Premier League 13 0 1
Conference League qualifiers 2 0 0
Carabao Cup 2 0 0
FA Cup 1 0 0

Dewsbury-Hall has a good relationship with Maresca, who’s coached him at both Chelsea and Leicester, but he could still push to leave Stamford Bridge.

While we think the left-footed midfielder adds real value to the squad as great cover, he needs to be playing more regularly as he enters the prime years of his career.

Fulham, who finished 11th in the Premier League last season, could be a great place for Dewsbury-Hall to kick on.

What John Obi Mikel said about Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall when he signed

When Dewsbury-Hall followed Maresca to Chelsea last summer, it certainly raised a few eyebrows.

John Obi Mikel disliked the Dewsbury-Hall signing from day one. The former Blues star said in August 2024: “When I look at this team, Dewsbury-Hall. Again, I have nothing against this player, it’s not his fault, it was the club who brought him to the club, he cannot help Chelsea.”

In fairness, Dewsbury-Hall failed to establish himself as a key player in his debut season, and an exit may now be on the cards.

The reality is that the Blues are so stacked in central midfield with the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. Brazilian talent Andrey Santos is about to be added to the mix, too.
