Chelsea will have a great opportunity to sign one player on their transfer shortlist this summer.

The Blues are expected to bring a new striker to Stamford Bridge when the market opens, though Brighton & Hove Albion star Joao Pedro is unlikely to join.

The Chelsea Chronicle has learnt that Pedro is not currently on Chelsea’s radar despite reports.

As well as a centre-forward, Enzo Maresca could also see the arrival of a new winger.

All parties have agreed on Alejandro Garnacho exit

Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho is one wide man Chelsea are being linked with heading into the summer transfer window.

It is thought that Chelsea still have Garnacho on their shortlist after January interest, and the 20-year-old could very well be on the move.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United, Ruben Amorim and the player himself have all agreed to an exit in a boost to Chelsea.

Speaking about Garnacho’s situation on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Alejandro Garnacho can leave Manchester United this summer. That’s the idea of the club, the management, the manager and the player. So it’s not one side want one thing [and] the other side want another thing.”

The Argentina international started on the bench in United’s Europa League final defeat against Tottenham Hotspur, something that he was not happy about. In an interview with Sky Sports (via Reuters) in the past, Amorim has described Garnacho as “amazing”, but he was still overlooked for United’s biggest game of the season.

Regarding his future at Old Trafford, it looks like that was the final nail in the coffin, though a transfer to Chelsea is not guaranteed. Chelsea have other winger targets, while Napoli have also shown interest in Garnacho.

How much Chelsea could have to pay for Alejandro Garnacho

United wanted huge money for Garnacho during the last transfer window, but they now seem willing to sell him for less than their original asking price.

On his price tag, Romano said: “The expectation is for the player to leave and also for less than the requested 70, €75m in January. That’s what they wanted from Napoli or maybe Chelsea.”

Chelsea will see Garnacho being on the market as a good opportunity, but for now their focus will be on games against Nottingham Forest and Real Betis.

Win those, and Maresca’s men will be in the Champions League as the 2025 Conference League winners. Lose both, and they may not even be able to attract Garnacho and some of their other targets to west London.
